It is difficult to describe the breathtaking beauty of a Lausanne gathering with 5,200 people gathered in a single room with delegates from nearly every country on earth worshipping in joy and harmony.

Even before Hurricane Helene made landfall in the United States, near Tallahassee, Florida, on Thursday (Sept. 26), faith-based disaster groups were on the move.

As the Fourth Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization came to an end, we celebrated the Lord’s supper as a global church of over 5,000 delegates from 200+ countries.

Are any of these idols stopping you or your team from leadership development? We are wise to heed the apostle John’s encouragement: “Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.” If we don’t, we will neglect one of our chief roles as a leader. 

The word evangelize is used 52 times and the word “evangelist” is used a few times as well, but the word “evangelism” is as absent as a loudmouth in a boot camp for mimes.

If I could go back and do it all over again, here are five simple things I would tell my younger self as a parent. 

It’s easy for a church to be about maintaining the status quo, keeping the saints comfortable, or staying busy doing good things. But we must never forget that our job is to reach people.
